Hello! I'm Darren...

I'm fortunate to run a business in an industry that I'm truly passionate about, Personal Development.

I was born in Tennessee (US) and have lived in at least 9 states, including having spent lots of time in Japan and Antigua West Indies. Each time I move to a different place, I have to learn how to connect and build relationships quickly. A skill I developed during my personal development journey.

Our business allows us to live where we choose to live, travel and explore the world in a way that I only could have dreamed about as a kid.

Along the way I have had an opportunity to meet Zig Ziglar, Les Brown, Brian Tracey, and many others. It's been an epic adventure!

I'm passionate about working with motivated men and women who want to create this level of freedom and flexibility in their own lives.

What Keeps Me On This Personal Development Path?:

One of my personal philosophies is to always be flexible and agile when it comes to managing change..., any change. I learned from Jim Rohn that "we don't get in life when we want, we get in life what we are." What goes along with that mindset is the power of our internally spoken word.

What can help us to successfully change as we respond to the world around us is being able to effectively let go.

When my Mom was in the hospital I would visit her and spend more time telling the nurses and support staff what to do than I did visiting with her. Not only was it exhausting, it made me cranky and no fun to be around.

One day my Mom told me that I wasn't acting like the son she raised. She said, I needed to focus on being the best son to her that i can be - and let go of trying to control the nurses and staff who were there to take care of her.

Once I shifted my focus to her, away from all of those other things I could not control - my entire life shifted. I made a promise to myself that I would share that lesson with as many folks as possible.

That commitment to my Mom has kept me on the personal development path and led me to this business. From that the Letting Go Cafe was born as a way to provide positive uplifting personal development learning tools for others.

THE BOOKS THAT LED ME TO SUCCESS: I've been a believer in Personal Development since my days working in organization development at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, CA, over 30 years ago.

Over the years I have read over and over books such as Think & Grow Rich and am a huge fan of Jim Rohn's and Earl Nightingale's philosophies on life and success.

This culminated into me writing and publishing a book titled "Letting Go of Stuff: Powerful Secrets To Simplify Your Life." In other words, I am a staunch believer in personal development and am always looking for ways to help continuously empower myself and others.

I moved back to Tennessee from California in order to be closer to my Mom, who was challenged by the symptoms of multiple scleorosis. It was during that time that I had to drill down on the practice of personal development. The outcome was amazing.

At one point, I found myself on a website similar to the one that you're on now. There was something about it that made me want to learn more and here I am... still.
